Analysis of Precedent

“The plan is a generator - it generates both activity and structure. But how to lay out the plan - does it specify the structure itself, or does it merely specify a method by which the structure will evolve.” Le Corbusier
“I do not design plans, facades, sections, I design space…… one must connect spaces with one another so that the transition is unnoticeable and natural, but also the most practical.” Adolf Loos

From 17th September we started a new project which is aimed at introduce architectual to us. I do enjoy these 3 weeks. I was studing about the Koshino House which is design by one of the most famouse architects nowadays Tadao Ando.

Inspiring Place

This is a one week project, we were asked to find a inspiring place which is located within the area between the Law and the docks in Dundee. And the way I want to present it by photography and skeches.

I find a lot intrasting places while I walk aroud Dundee. As I showed on the left. But these palces are not good enough when comparing with my inspiring place. The one inspired me is at Douglas street.
It does not looks that pretty on the first sight it has steel-doors and bottels on the ground...but as you go inside of it,it is full of surprices.
This is an overview of it.
It has doors open to the trees, river coming from the house old fashion dark doors... I even find an old newspaper in the small
river.

Just like a photo in old newspapers
There also got srairs hiding behind the trees. Just like the secreat entrance of wanderland.
This place is so special for me because it is almost formed itself but it shows the future design point. I went to the World Expo this year when these top architects face to the question of what kind of building people should live in the future, a majority architects decide to combine their design with natural. This place is not be made like this on purpose but the way it combine nature and building is brilliant.

Beach Project--Bridge

The first project I got in Dundee University is Beach Project. We went to Tentsmuir’s beach on 13th of September.

In the site research I find out it is a really intereting place. It is a good example of how people could make up for nature. Therefore in this project we are only allowed to recycled local material.

This project is located on Tentsmuir’s beach. It required the architect to design and built together. The requirments are clear in a group of four or five people using the available material to complete the design by hands with in one day. Firstly my group was planning to make a small nest on the island. The weather looks good at first but while we are working on the nest it began to rain. The rain caused water level rising which immediately change the site. On the one hand the island is not big enough for a nest on the other hand the bridge we had built for small nest became the most convenience link. Seeing people pass over again and again we began to wander why do not us built a bridge? It is more functional and bridge is always a special part of architectural design. So for repect to the site we spend next couple of hours to achieve this idea. The main materials we use were branch and two wood blocks. Several bottles were placed in the water for supporting the board.

My Firrst Blog Post

I always believe I am someone who has no intention to show myself on line. One of my friend once said I am just like a girl from 1970's. Therefore I spend weeks to think what should I write in my first online post, as the time is running out I finnaly dicide to start. As you can see, this is my first post.

This is me in the end of my second decade. I am an architecture student in Dundee University now, and I will write about my university life in this blog in the future.
